What is

"Alter Ego"?

Alter Ego is a immersive VR project that was originally inspired by the lack of LGBT rights in Singapore. But the project was extended after seeing the discrimination of Transgender individuals both in and outside of the LGBT community.

In recent times, as the society have slowly grown to slowly accept the LGB part of the community, whereas the Transgender Community has been rarely talked about.

Through Alter Ego, I want to portray an inside story of what the struggles a Transgender individual might face, in both religious and societal sense - as religion and societal opinions affect most of our opinions and thoughts.

I want to show that being Transgender is not a phase or a choice, it is just something that happens or develops.

At the end of the day, I want the viewers and audience to understand that all an individual needs is support and understanding. It may be tough to understand but it does not hurt to take time to understand the thoughts and the perspective of someone who is struggling with their identity, and just a little bit of support is enough to encourage them to look to the future.

Transgender people aren't changing into something entirely different, they are just becoming what they were truly meant to be.
